Harvard Business School (HBS), Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School are all incredible programs—with three very different interview processes. In HBS’s admissions interview, expect to be peppered with questions for 30 minutes straight by someone who knows your application almost as well as you do. Wharton’s main interview component is not an interview at all; instead, its Team Based Discussion is just that—a team simulation, observed by members of Wharton’s admissions team. And Stanford GSB’s interview will go deep into just one, or maybe a handful, of your stories, asking for the details of what you did, why, and how your actions mattered.
If you have been invited to interview with even one of these programs, congratulations are in order! Some of you will be invited to interview with more than one or maybe even all three. The interview will give the admissions teams valuable insights into your candidacy, so you want to invest time not only into practicing strong foundational interview strategies and techniques but also into researching the nuances of each school’s interview process.
